Subscribers have become increasingly aware of high roaming data tariffs when using data roaming. This has forced many subscribers to disable features for international roaming data before they travel abroad in an effort to avoid costly data roaming charges. Others prefer to either buy a local prepaid SIM card or make extensive use of Wi-Fi networks.
The Starhome® Local Roaming Data™ (LRD) solution enables operators to offer lower priced local roaming data packages and roaming bundles for inbound roamers, provided locally (while roaming) by the visited network. In addition, the solution also presents operators with an advanced local data breakout solution, that addresses the increasing market trends for data roaming packages, but relieves the subscriber of potential bill shock by offering charging models similar to those in the home network
