Allows operators to better cope with and manage M2M /Embedded Mobile devices within their network
The use of Embedded Mobile (EM) devices is forecast to grow rapidly over the coming years.
Embedded Devices, also known as M2M (machine-to-machine), have already begun to emerge in tablet/computers with built-in 3G connectivity, such as Kindle, and are also being widely used in transport applications to monitor location and communication. Many industries are now adopting embedded devices to simplify the process for reporting data from the source. The M2M service platform also sees embedded mobile device usage extend to control rooms, utility meters, health care equipment and security, plus a wide range of other devices and applications where event-related information is needed.
The Starhome® Embedded Mobile Manager ™ (EMM) is an M2M solution that provides mobile operators with a single core element to fully manage and control their embedded mobile services.
Starhome’s EMM solution works by providing the VPMN with the ability to automatically detect roaming M2M embedded devices roaming within the network. Based on the 3GPP GLR, EMM takes control of the device registration within the network, and SIM usage profile allows the EMM the capabilities to address operators concerns regarding roaming, network protection, fraud and QoS. The solution also protects the network against any potential surge of device registration and offers M2M global coverage for outbound roaming, with a dedicated tool which steers embedded devices to their preferred network via an M2M gateway.
